Quite interesting... reminds me of the E10's I saw at the SoCal Vintage BMW gathering (Woodley Park / Van Nuys) in 2024. There was a group of at least five E10 vehicles which had Honda S2000 engine transplants.
I think I would've opted for a technical variant of this project... why not repair the E9 body, make sure it's straight, and then make carbon fibre or fiberglass copies of the E9 body parts?
I've seen a Dodge challenger done this way. They tore down a modern dodge challenger to the subframe, engine, transmission and suspension.. then grafted a carbon fibre body copy of an original 70's challenger onto the modern frame. At some point the car sold in a Mecum auction for several hundred thousand.
