Hello

Does anyone know if the floor and rear panels on a 2000cs are the same as the 2800cs or 3.0cs? I know the nose of the car is different, but it looks like the back end of the car from the windscreen (A Pillars) backwards are the same.

The reason I ask is that I have a spare 2000cs shell in good condition and I have a rusted 3.0cs that I want to restore. I'm thinking of using the 2000cs shell as a donor for the floor and rear panels. Has anyone tried this or measured the panels before?

According to the literature that I have read the six cylinder CS was merely a re-styled front clip nailed onto the existing four cylinder coupe. Based on how broke BMW were at the time I cannot see there being any difference in the floor pans or any other part of the body from the "A" post rearwards.
I have worked on many BMWs over the years for customers including quite a lot of customers and am often quite surprised how little BMW change stuff unless they really have to and therefore parts remain interchangeable, as an example the metal spring clip on the flexi brake hose that the flare nut on the metal pipe passes through is NLA for the E9 if you go on realoem.com however it is exactly the same part as that used on almost every car BMW ever made (its just that the part number has changed). Another example last year I needed a pilot bush for the end of a propshaft (driveshaft in America), once again NLA from BMW ask them for one from an E36 (and probably any other model) and its a direct fit.
So like I said BMW don't change anything unless they really need to, my guess is that you could remove the front clip of that 2000 CS and put a six cylinder clip right on and it would line up perfectly.

Thanks guys. Gazzol, that's exactly what my thoughts were. I am going to take both bodies to a Bodyshop and ask the to measure up to be certain. I'll let you guys know the outcome once I have received the results.
