I am the original owner and purchased and imported this exhaust from London Stainless. It is in great condition and I cannot see any functional difference from what you would have with a new unit really.
This fits the 3.0 liter cast iron exhaust engine manifolds. An engine upgrade for me to a 3.5 liter with 3.5 liter cast iron manifolds is why I have this is available. Otherwise I certainly would not be selling this exhaust. It includes a bung for an O2 sensor for use with an LJet or Motronic ignition. If you don't need this, you could screw in a plug.
The rear section of the exhaust is slightly over sized at 2.5 inch diameter. The over sized chrome exhaust tip is included. The chrome is nice, but not perfect.
I had hit a bump and damaged the front resonator. So this was repaired with a new center muffler and Y pipe. I don't think these two pieces are stainless, but they are very heavy, show no signs of corrosion and seem to be sufficient to last a very long time. But if you want I am sure these two pieces could be replaced with stainless ones at a local muffler shop. I would have done this but did not want to wait and saw marginal benefit.
There is no evidence that I can find of material corrosion, rust or wear. There no rattles. Sound deadening materials seem to function as new. This is system is slightly louder than OEM, but significantly quieter than the Coupe King system from Peter Sliskovich which starts at $1950 new. By the way, Peter's system is great and he is wonderful to work with. Highly recommended. The stainless in this system, both pipes and the rear can, is slightly thicker and heavier.
If I were to get picky I could point out that one of the bends in one of the front downpipes is not perfect and has a crease, but I don't think it is significant.
I hope this goes to a good home as I appreciate all E9's and the E9 community. I will be listing this on eBay soon, but wanted to give the community a head up first.
