Just saw the results of this week-end´s CSL auctions in Monaco. The first car result may have suffered from the presence of the other CSL being offered the next day, but this double event brought much publicity to this model and established it on the upper class auction circuits. Not bad for a street going car achieving an end price right under 150Keur/200Kusd

The top 4 CSL hammer price (via Auction houses)

I think we will soon see CSL-prices paid, on Auctions, above 200 000 euro. My personal opinion is that an interesting 3.0 CSL in good condition should be at the same price level as a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS, i.e. 250 000 - 400 000 euro.

The Bat sold by RM in Monaco went for 128 800 euro and is therefore the most expensive street-bat sold (at least via an Auction house).

The previous record was held by the Taiga-Bat sold by Bonhams in August 2009 for about 118 000 euro (150 000 USD).

The top 4 CSL hammer price (via Auction houses):

- Chamonix bat 05/2010 (RM): 128 800 euro/170 000 USD
- Taiga bat 08/2009 (Bonhams): 118 000 euro/150 000 USD
- Chamonix bat 06/2006 (Christies): 100 000 euro/130 000 USD
- Polaris bat 04/2010 (Bonhams): 94 300 euro/120 000 USD

Please note that the BMW 328 MM Bügelfalte actually was sold after the RM Auction:

"Bidding on the aforementioned and much hyped BMW 328 stopped at 4 million Euro, which was not enough to reach the reserve, which most likely was closer to 5 million Euro. The high bidder and vendor did manage to reach an agreement but the exact amount involved has not been revealed."

Cheers

4355010 is alive

I own #10 in that batch, 4355010. Just took it to the WDC BMW club concours in Vienna VA on 5/2/10. I got 3rd place. A 1937 328 was there, won 1st place.

I'm liking these prices, but I'd never sell. Picked it up for a steal in Essen at a used car dealer.

DDLentz,
Any pictures? Is it on the registry?
Sounds like a great car.
Purcellville is near Summit Point, no?

CSL in Purcellville

I just posted it on the CS Registry. Working on it for 10 years before I brought her out into the sunlight. She's a beauty.

Looks great. How was your experience with Korman with the resto? How long did it take? Did you consider anyone else? I ask because eventually I want to have some major work done to my coupe, and there is no one local to do it. I figure he has more experience with vintage bimmers than anyone else in the southeast than I am aware of.
I live in Florida, but I am a native of Richmond, VA and have family in central Va. I have done HPDE's at VIR, and Ray was kind enough to give me some hot laps as a passenger in his Lotus Elise. Better than any ride at King's Dominion!

Korman restore

I had a great experience with Korman restoration. Worked with Allen Patterson on the details. He was awesome to work with and kept me abreast of the work being done. They even took pictures of the restoration steps.
