That cover does have a weird shape. The Orange Parts sticker is found on at least 1973 coupes and perhaps earlier in the US, it is the earlier style which is correct, later style is a larger font and fewer words. It belongs on the the passenger fender by the strut bearing. US 74 coupes did have an Emissions sticker on that cover, one year only.

Can confirm the location. The sticker about negative battery terminal is originally on the upper wall, close to fender. ... and the air filter housing is black ;)

Even the antenna location matches with mine CS.

What is the red sticker, close to Orange Parts one?

Is that a warning sticker not to to torque the head bolts? Did 75s really get black washer hose? He has a gas cap for an oil cap and wrong relays by battery but what a lovely coupe.

Also the coolant reservoir is from newest BMW (E24?). There is no place for the level sensor on mine

Keshav, yes plastic came out for the facelift 74 models but they didn’t have the round boss where a sensor was mounted in later e24s. There is a pic here:

Here’s another 2.5CS engine in original condition.

Chris, here’s another 2.5 with the reservoir without the round boss…so I guess both types were used

The last lot which also included the 2.5 CS were late 1974/75 coupes. Yours is a pre face lift which had brass overflow tanks, 74/75 were ‘face lifted’. Differences are listed in FAQ’s.

Over the years so may things can be changed or replaced making it very hard to tell what is correct. I’ve only seen the braided hood ground strap on a 2800CS but not a 3.0CS (red coupe), both cars have thin rubber trims on the fender seams, that is not correct. The green car has had the fender cladding replaced in a strange manner and has a black valve cover and silver or very light grey air cleaner. And I’ve never seen square relays on an e9. On the 2002 they used the small round can and the square can relays weren’t introduced until 76 model year at least here in the US. The devil is in the details as they say!

As my car is one of the latest produced and has faced no mods I treat is somehow as a car on which time has stopped. It is uses newest parts BMW was having including relays:
