I've stripped down the fuel system in the engine bay (I've previously done the pipes, seals and clips on the tank, and will look at the pump, the metal fuel lines and associated hoses once I've tackled the engine bay)

I now have some injectors (which look fine except for some surface corrosion on the upper body) a set of rubbers o-rings seals (which look tired but are still flexible), the metal injector "supports" (which look terrible, lots of surface corrosion) and the pair of injector rails (which again have surface rust on them)

re the metal parts, I'd love to get these zinc plated and looking smart and so I'll look for somewhere local to me who can do this. What prep do I need to do on the parts before handing them over to the platers? And can I also give them the injectors? (I'd like to have the injectors looking good, but won't risk any damage to them if that is a risk with having the metal surfaces plated)

re the injectors, they look to be fine, I'll set up a test rig to look at the spray pattern, but I assume they'll need cleaning/ testing/ etc.

Injectors don’t go any where but to injector shop for cleaning, testing, rebuild if necessary. New hose.
air box and intake and valve cover to powdercoater.
hardware to zinc

Sold!
Off to a zinc plater tomorrow with my bag of bits, I've listed it all out, just hope I can remember which fasteners go where...

For the rubber fuel lines running up from the hard fuel lines, up to the d-jet fuel rail (via the filter) and returning from the pressure regulator, what's the correct routing? And the correct location for the fuel filter?

I've checked out the media section (fantastic feature btw) but there are a lot of different routings in different engine bays

Sharing some piccies, fasteners etc back from zinc platers, intake alu parts just back from bead blasting. Injectors with a historic injector rebuilder, should be back at the weekend.
Will check valve clearances... whilst I'm there!!

Questions:
How to route the rubber fuel lines from the hard lines (right at the bottom of the firewall/ scuttle, under the brake servos) to the injector fuel rail. Is there a best route?
Fuel line hose clips, I have jubilee type clips and ear-clamp type clips. I'd prefer to use the ear-clamp clips, any thoughts on this?
I assume bmw has a standard modern fuel hose for this
The cyl head breather pipe, I note this currently has no jubilee clip on either end, should it have a clip at either end, to seal against vac leaks?

Thanks

Fuel line routing
from the pipe feed, under the servos towards the battery tray. Fuel filter attached to the bottom rear edge of the battery tray. Fuel line to rails from the filter.
clips, whatever you want. Originally not jubilee clips but when the original parts became NLA. BMW supplied jubilee clips as a replacement.
Breather. Just a push fit. No clips.

I've had the intake and valve cover bead blasted, and then cleaned ultrasonically, the interior of the valve cover still feels a bit gritty however. Is there a best way to clean the last of the residue?
Brake cleaner and a scrubbing brush?

Thanks

Injectors came back today, so plan to rebuild the fuel system next, new hoses and clips

I’m working in Oman for a few weeks - internet is tough where I’ll be at the shop.
Put the valve cover in a parts washer and keep it there. Run the washer into the vent pipe.

at least you are there in the 'winter' ... not that means too much, but it beats the hell out of being there in the middle of the summer.

I have shot carb cleaner in there and used skinny bottle brushes and then compressed air and it was fine.
