CSL Petri on ebay without a stupid reserve...

i think a premier 38 CSL petri starts at 2500. i could be wrong, but ... i don't think so
very good to excellent non-leather petri are 1000 to 1250 ... and can easily go up to 1500+

yes ... starts at 2500. then it depends on what somebody is willing to pay. i wouldn't be surprised to hear of a true CSL petri selling for 3500 to 4000. i think somebody is going to be supremely disappointed when they get this one home and realize what its going to cost to try to get it to be a nice, but not a great wheel ... and they would have paid the price for a great wheel.

purely supposition on my part.

I think that someone who purchased it - will have to add around 500 EUR to make it look good.
Satin re-chroming is 200 EUR
Leather upholstery is ca. 150-200 EUR
+- 100-150 for other work (cutting, glueing, painting etc.).

Scott, I think you would be incredibly fortunate to find a premier condition CSL Petri for anywhere near $2,500. With correct hub and horn etc, I think the starting point is at least another $1,000. Personally, I think the going rate for an excellent CSL with all the correct bits is probably around $4,000.
Cheers!

Dan,

i am sure you are correct ... just saying its a starting point, not that you could buy one for that. i remember one selling for 2750 a year ago and another for 3300+/- at the end of last year. but with the standard petri in excellent condition has pushed from 1000 to 1250 up to 1500 to 1750, the rising tide floats all boats. the downside is that a true CSL petri or prototipo is not easily obtainable in excellent condition.

Agreed, finding one at all is the challenge. Anyone with an excellent CSL wheel that is surplus to requirements can pretty much ask what they want.
Cheers!

It's not CSL wheel, it's just nice regular 38 Petri from 2002 with short hub & hub cover.
That seller is historically obnoxious. Sucks because he has some cool wheels...
He is selling wheel for 4k (price reduced from 5k) & now he left only one photo, so noone could see that this is not CSL set (the only suspicion for new potential buyer is no leather)!

Dear all, I'm a member since a while but just following the discussions.
I'm situated in Germany and collect BMW's and parts off since 20 years.
If someone is interested in a nice Petri wheel just let me know. It's a 40. e9 hub, grip tight (some pittings on the backside, but 99% of those wheels got that pittings in the foam), chrome surface good (minor imperections but this is a evaluation of a pefectionist). Hub trim without any damage, horn buttons as new.
The following pictures show the 40 cm - made today.

Why not just buy a 38cm and have it leather wrapped and save yourself the $3000?
