Interesting article in the January 2009 issue of Roundel. They cite the CSL as one of the "Ten Most Desirable BMWS", quoting valuations for "raced" versions of the CSL between $150,000 and $450,000. For the road-going versions they suggest values between $95,000 and $150,000.

collectibility of BMW's

Gad Zooks! That's serious money. Short of entering a coupe into an auction, just how do we find these type of buyers?

TJ,

Thanks for pointing that out. I am sure you have seen my posts about values of the CSLs going up and all of the heat I took for supposedly speculating and trying to artficially prop up the market on them.

Thanks again,
RP

value of coupes

Yea, I've been watching the live Scottsdale Barrett-Jackson auction on Speed channel, and wondering what a nicely done coupe (like my csi) would bring. An Isetta brought 42k Tuesday evening. It certainly would be interesting to see an e9 of any type (cs,csi or csl) sell on this auction, but most cars being sold are of the American muscle car variety.

gee, Ron, its just friendly garage talk!

Its also just one (more) enthusiast magazine, written by (more)enthusiasts, written for (often NEW) enthusiasts, probably just about as objective as they come! But that's a good thing right, we DO love these cars! 8)

LOL!!! Would it have more validity if it were published in National Geographic? :D

I think enthusiasts have a better awareness of the market, though.

Just my .02 fwiw
