Hi,

20200201_113207.jpg

After a long time refurbishment and an engine replacement due to a seized engine, my 2800CSA was ready to drive. Unfortunately, after some test drives, white smoke appears and I lost 2 liters of coolant within one hour running of the engine....... So I removed the head, and found out that the head was already repaired badly by welding at cylinder 3. This welding repair has cracked again in the outlet port 3 of the head. The previous owner of the engine (which I bought 3 years ago second hand ) had also experienced a leak, and used coolant leak repair stuff to stop the crack. This stuff clogged the coolant passage at cylinder 3, and started leaking after a few testdrives pretty bad.
My engine is an 2.5 ltr of 1979, the cracked head has pn 1.262.243 with the old type of cooling passages.

Can somebody tell me if the cylinderhead pn 1.277.358 with the upgraded cooling passages and attachment for a mechanical fuel pump of an 5 series BMW fit my engine?

Best regards, Henny

It should fit fine. I had the same issue when I bought my CSi in 2011. We bought a 1986 5-Series head, needed thicker head gasket after milling the head & front cover. Have had zero cooling issues & when we drove across the US in 2016 it was 41 C (105° F) across Kansas & just as hot in Nevada and drove between 150-165 kph (93-103 mph)
