That is close the price of a house in Otago I recall.
Not any more Arde, we are seeing unprecedented grown in house prices here in NZ at the moment mainly due to housing stock shortage, high immigration and the effects of the Christchurch earth quakes, you will get a cheep house in some remote parts of the country (like anywhere I guess) but the main centres and other areas like Otago (where the make some stunning wines I might add!) are climbing at an alarming rate, we had 8.1% rise here in Auckland over the last year, and the New Zealand average house price is now $440k odd (without going to find the exact figure), Auckland $630k and climbing
Speaking of Otago ( and Cromwell in particular) have a look at this, it's the latest race track to be built here, it's privately owned by a self made Pet food magnate ( he's a major petrol head) built in one of the most spectacular scenic spots of NZ

Glad to hear real estate is doing well there, I visited a friend in Dunedin a few years back when it was very affordable and expats were relocating there easily. I should have bought then...
We went out with former All Blacks player Ian Hurst on these crazy river speedboats propelled by 8 cylinder engines pushing water through jets. Wild stuff, forget E9 sway bars and coils, that is acceleration on the turns.
My friend organizes a yearly technology conference and has been asking me to go give a talk about something just to visit again, but I have been remiss and putting it off.
Maybe when your car is ready I will have another reason to visit.
