Being the BMW dork that I am, I get excited when I "discover" a factory paint option/order. If I see something new, I look into it. A 2500 isn't terribly exciting, but when are you ever going to see another Phönix E3?

Dear @Markos,

Thank you for your email.

The BMW 2500 VIN 2071739 was manufactured on August 24th, 1976 and delivered on August 25th, 1976 to the BMW dealer Hering in Bamberg. The original colour was Phönix, paint code 028.

We hope this information is helpful for you.

Yours sincerely,

Julia Oberndörfer

It’s similar to Hennarot. Red or orange depending on the lighting. I’m not sure what color they used on the M1, but it is also similar. The paint code on the M1 is supposedly 209, but that doesn’t mean much to me. I don’t know where the sticker is...

Big difference in color with lighting. Those two M1's are the same color...

Are you sure? They came in red and orange. It bothers me that I can’t give them a better name than red (208) and orange (209).

Put your finger across the hood and block the orange. The quarter of the car in back matches the bumper of the car in front.
