It is possible that it is a fuse.
In my OE radio (blaupunkt pictured below) there was an in-line fuse inside the console (I have an AC equipped car, so a full AC faceplate.
Others may know if there is typically an additional fuse on the panel.
I believe most of these radios are attached via their radio knobs which also incorporate a fastening nut underneath each of the knobs which simply pull off. Removal in the AC equippped coupes requires removal of the console face plate, not sure of non-AC equipped coupes.

No fuse needed as it comes from 10.
Mine has an inline fuse, pull the radio and trace the power wire. See if it has 12v. Might be accessible by removing the left side ac vent plate on the tunnel. Otherwise remove the knobs and the hex nuts, the 4 screws that hold the face plate into the console, pull the console off then you can manipulate the radio. Pretty easy.

Should always be an inline fuse to a radio & any other accessories. I am a card carrying member of the Department of Redundancy Department
Given that radio wire is less than 24” long an inline fuse really does nothing. Farther away is a different story.
Have we established that "stopped working" means no power?
I removed the radio and the fuse is OK. But no power on the red wire that turns purple before the fuse. Where does this short loom connect too? Also noticed I have no power to the fan switch as well. Do these cable route under the steering wheel or to the engine bay? Also, any tipo on removing the bottom panel beneath the steering wheel. I see no screws or fasteners. Thnx much

Power comes lower spade terminal on back of fuse box, Number 10 on the far right side. You can see the fuses with hood release door opened, check there next. Nothing comes from the engine bay.
Purple wire connects through the ignition switch.

I’m baffled at the immense depth of exact knowledge by HB Chris and others. I wish I had the fortitude, and desire, of study to immerse myself that deeply. I’m ever impressed with you all.
Hmmm, the wiring diagrams suggest that the radio connection is done using plug 67 in the diagram, which gets 12V from the input side of fuse 10.
If this is correct the radio is not fused by fuse 10 and must rely on an inline fuse.
Power to that circuit comes from the ignition switch. The best way to sort things out is to run a 12V wire from another live fuse and see if the radio works.

Violet from ignition switch provides power to fuse 10 and not directly to radio. Output of fuse 10 is used for the radio.
I checked power at fuse position no 10 when ignition is on and nothing. The purple direct to radio is ok there is continuity so cable is
fine. Radio works with 12V, so, it seems big Purple cable is not receiving energy. Where does the large purple cable come from? Ignition switch?
Did you check for power on BOTH sides of fuse 10? It could be the fuse is blown or not making good contact.

That is bad news as it points to bad ignition switch...
Change the #10 fuse, even though it looks good.
