Hi, I found a 3.0 si engine near home and in very good price
What would be the main difference between an 3.0 si engine and a 3.0 csi?
Both are D-jetronic I supose.
Thank you,

Si/CSI engines

There is no difference between the engines for early cars. Later Model Si had l-Jetronic injection, the give away is the waffle top on the l-jet AFM.

Lower compression ratio

I believe US fuel injected 30Si engines would have lower compression ratios than 30CSi engines which of course we're never officially imported here. I think the numbers are 8.0 vs 9.5. Horsepower yield would be about 176 vs 201 respectively. So called "dirty" higher compression European engines of this era all had increased power outputs.

I hope I'm not hijacking this thread, but instead of lifting an old thread:

Did all M30B30s have a 3.0 casting on the block? My engine doesn't have any bore/size casting-marks at all. Is this normal? Block is made -73.

Sorry again for the off topic.
