Hi all

Just getting ready to put the new LSD in the car, The original diff in the car didn't have the extra little catch tank, but the LSD I bought did, do you think I need to run this?

Any of you guys running LSD's without the catch tank? if so any problems? I will be doing some track work with the car.

Thanks

Steve

LSD "catch can"

Hi, I have the same can.
From what I have read it not a "catch can" , it is a " de airater", that is, a device to remove the air bubbles from the oil.
The answer to your question is yes you should use it.
As they say, " it cost money to make it " so if it was not needed the "bean counters" would have "caned"it !.

The catch tank first appeared on 635 euro cars and the M535,
for your street car it wouldn't hurt at all to remove it
if you have the corresponding cap to replace it.

BUT if you also have the drive pulley, pump, and cooler for diff cooling (which are the real reasons this catch tank design was incorporated), might as well leave it all on ;-)
