Hi all, apart from the e12, what other bmw carry the same crown wheel and pinion as the E9 coupe? Im after a 3.64 or lower, maybe a 3.8? 4.1?. Ive got good access to a lot of classics inc old bmw's, any ideas?

Early (E12-based) E24s and E3s. That's it, as far as I know. The E23 and E28 used the later, front-loader diffs, and every BMW model since also uses this type.
The E21 and E1 use a smaller, although similarly-styled, diff. I do not think it will fit properly in the E9 chassis.

I don't think so. The smaller-case diff means a smaller diameter gearset.
