Diff Question

NO, this is definitely not a "straight bolt-on".

I think there are two options. First is to convert the whole rear suspension to the E28 configuration: subframe, swing arms, diff, halfshafts, etc. This would also require modifying the rear diff mount. I know it has been done to Dr Ping Tsao's S38 powered CS.

Second option, which I not heard of acturally being done, would be to modify an E9 rear subframe with the diff mount parts from an E28 subframe. This would also require modifying the rear diff mount.

A lot of E9s had 3.45 LSDs, as did early E3 2800 sedans, and that would be a much easier, bolt-on swap.

Guess I should have mentioned the list. At least for US models 68-70 E3 2800 sedans, 69-71 2800CS, 77-81 E12 5 series and 77-81 633s all came with 3.45 diffs, with limited slips as an expensive option.
