Hullo ,thanks for the response, I have a CSL,the numbers on the housing are 38mw, 12243301800, then its either 18or 48 followed by 72, the ratio i believe is 355. My car has been off the road since 86, I have been working on it for about 7 years, I sent the car to a local shop to check all my work and to get it ready for the road ,he sent me out with no oil in the diff which proceeded to lock up on the freeway at speed, it was a bit hectic , no body damage, we move on. Thanks for the help, Mark.

Burky?

is the differential now removed from the car?

can you look at this picture and take a picture of your differential in exactly the same place and post it here?

Hi Mark, as Aussiecsi said above, give Dean at Peninsula BM a call, I think he should be able to help. I think it will be cheaper to get the parts or a diff from Melbourne than freighting a CWP from the US. There are differences (8 or 10 bolt). Take some pics of the crown wheel and pinion and count the teeth to be sure they match the numbers stamped on the casing. Unlikely that someone has changed them in the past, but you never know... Cheers Adrian

Yours is 39 divided by 12 ratio and not a LSD.
make sure your replacement is the same ratio or your speedo will be off.

I stared at the 4th photo long enough and finally saw the S, right of the 7. Being a csl it should have a LSD but I'd be nervous about the condition of the centre after running dry long enough to damage the cw/p
