Do these subframe mounts make my rear end look loose?

The two metalastic mounts that connect the rear subframe to the body are a known point of failure on our beloved coupes. I replaced them on my CS but the ones on my CSL look to be in pretty good condition. It's hard to tell without taking them off, and even then perhaps impossible to know for sure. I had to place an order with BMP for a couple parts and decided to order a set of their subframe mount stiffeners. These are very simple urethane inserts that press easily in to the subframe mount. Installation takes about 10 minutes to do both sides, you don't even need to remove the subframe mount. All you have to do is remove the locating bar (2 13mm head bolts at the front, one 22mm bolt at the rear) and press the insert in with your fingers. Reassemble and you're done. This mod, combined with new subframe mounts, urethane subframe bushings (the installation of which is something I said I'd never do again but in reality I will do someday) and a new rear diff mount goes a long way to making sure your rear end stays appropriately aligned with the rest of the chassis. I think they were 20 bucks for the pair.

I took the car out for a test lap and didn't notice a huge difference in handling, but I do think that they are a worthwhile.

I run these on my E12 based 635. I did notice a difference in rear end stiffness and control. Probably due to the heavier car.

My old 3.0S racer from GB (BTC, ETC Gp1, 1 1/2) has solid nylon (?)mounts for the rear subframe-to-body as well as for the diff mount.
Sounds a lil harsh I suppose but its a purpose-built vintage tracker, I guess thats the way they did it back them 'course they used to also use solid mounts for the trans-to-driveshaft 8)
