Does anyone recognize this AC drier bracket?

I purchased a set of AC parts taken off a coupe a couple of years ago and the drier bracket that came with the set is strange. The old drier bottle and crispy red hoses came attached to it so it does seem it came off a car but I've never seen one shaped like this and I'm not even sure if it will fit. I don't have the coupe with me now to test fit it. Can anyone offer some insight?

I have seen this on a '74. It mounts way down low under the coil almost up against the front wall.

Thanks Sven. Do you recall what the layout is in that area on a '74 that requires such an odd bracket? Wonder what the two small holes and the one behind are for...? I think I'll slice off the front part and use that in the normal location for my '73...

Luis,

IF you don't get any further help, drop me a PM with your direct e-mail address and I can send you a picture of my '74 with the drier in place.

Here are some photos of this bracket in place. It looks like at least one of the holes is holding the high voltage coil output wire.

I wonder what made them move the drier?

Good question. Wonder if it has to do with the addition of the DOT bumper infrastructure in that area.

If anyone has the correct drier bracket for the earlier cars I'll take it...

The original York compressors were quite large and perhaps took up some of the space in that area. They also had the additional muffler can. Did BMW go to a rotary style compressor in 74, or was that much later? Like Chris said, the thicker frame rail may have had an impact.

or, maybe the drier was dropped lower to accomodate the CSI air box.
