On the 6th October we (The BMW Car Club GB) will be holding the 26th trackday known as the CSL Trackday.

This started out long before 'trackdays' were around in their plentiful number. It was started by a few members who at the time wanted to have some fun on track with their CS and CSL coupes.

I think they hired the Silverstone track for about 2/3 grand (now it costs 20 grand) there is some footage of these early days with plenty of tyre squealing as the cars were put through their paces.

Over the years the attendance of the E9's naturally dropped off, however in 2005 we made a special appeal to the owners to either come along and drive their cars on track or otherwise form a display and drive the circuit in a cavalcade during the lunchtime.

We had 20 cars turn up and BMW GB lent us their low mileage and original Batmobile which resided in the pit lane throughout the day.

We had another good turn out in 2006 at Silverstone with a good few E9's taking to the track and the drivers did a good job in showing BMWs on the edge.

In 2007 we went to Donington and held a workshop where a very knowledgeable John Castle gave a talk on the fuel injection system.

This year John will be holding a workshop on the braking system and we would like to invite as many owners as possible to attend either to put their cars on display in the pit lane or for them to take to the circuit.

The Club is keen to keep the interest in the E9's alive where owners can meet, make new aquaintances and help with matters technical and sourcing of parts.

There is no charge for attending and rides will be given in an AC Schnitzer car by one of their development engineers.

This is a true club event with true enthusiasts and I hope it will appeal to any CS and CSL owners who would enjoy creating a bond through these great machines.
