I have spent my life as a diesel mechanic / engineer working on the big stuff...locomotives and locomotive engines installed in tug boats. I got the chance to hang out with the Audi team at the Grand Prix of Long Beach in '09...They won and what a treat for a guy like me to see the new tech vs the ancient stuff I get paid well to maintain. To see this car float by like a ghost, nearly silent in the mix with high rev Acuras and the Ferrari, too cool. They gave me the job of helping to push the car back to their maintenance area after the win, a lifelong memory I will cherish. I did own an Audi back in 1985, a quattro, and I tortured that car on every logging road in Washington State. It was an unfortunate deal as the "unintended acceleration" thing happened shortly after my purchase. That beat up Audi for nearly a decade after and my resale price...well...I took a bit of a loss yet I sure had fun. If North American drivers would get a clue as to the marvels of diesel, they could eliminate their middle east importation of oil (Canadian oil is the best!)
