The resto shop is at the point of gaskets (seals) for doors and trunk (already purchased winshield and rear window gaskets). I checked on pricing. I think the dealer was @ around $450 for front doors. What can be used instead? Is there a "universal" gasket answer. Quite frankly am way over budget already, and had not planned on spending this kind of $ for gaskets (of course, when I started had not planned on spending this kind of money, period!!) What about the trunk gasket? Also, there is a thin tar paper like material under the hood just on top of firewall. Not available from Carl Nelson or Maximillian. Should I not replace? Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks
Randy

I've ended up spending about 3k just on rubber. It is nuts. That said, I have a spare LH Door main seal I'd be willing to let go for less than the dealer.

www.wallothnesch.com sells original BMW door seals @ 211 Euros, approx. $308 per. Even with shipping, you'll come out way ahead vs dealer prices and or the usual US CS parts retailers. To offset the international shipping cost, purchase multiple items on your order. There are a few interesting and cheap CS knickknack parts you could pick up.

Trunk gasket

CNPR fits a trunk lid gasket from another model, less expensive.

I too wish there were an aftermarket source but no one has indicated such exist.
