Pulling the car down ahead of going to the body works and some of the trim on the doors id giving me grief. How do you remove the top piece on interior trim - the piece that has the lock mechanism coming up through it. Having removed the door card it looks to me live it's riveted on - is this the case.
Happy to supply a picture if that helps.

Then I need to figure out how to get the window mechanisms out of the door......

There should be four small screws holding the steel frame that supports the wood and vinyl. If they are rivets the you will need to drill them out. Use a bit just larger than the center of the rivet.

I wish I could recall some tips on the regulators. air all comes out and position of the regulators is important. There are a lot of bits in there so pay attention to what goes where.

Thanks Markos.
Without having the car in front of me I think I've a line of four or so pop rivets that go through the lower piece of chrome trim. Looks like the rivets go into a mild steel backing plate and possibly trough into the inner door skin too. Same for both doors. Will drill them out and see what comes. Then I should be in a position to start removing the window mechanism and all the other bits. This is going to get interesting ahead of the re-spray, not to mention putting it back together :)

The wood is screwed into the backing plate from behind, and the backing plate is screwed to the door. Don’t try to remove the wood first.

Managed to get them off Markos.
Was the line of rivets you mentioned.
Now just to get the windows out of the door..
