I have a passenger side 'flag' door mirror that has a spot in the middle of the reflecting glass mirror part. I'd like to replace that mirror glass. Does anyone know of a source for JUST new glass?

IF not, I have an extra driver's side 'flag' mirror that has perfect glass, has anyone removed the glass from their mirror? Will the D side glass fit in the passenger mirror? HOW do you disassemble them?

Thank you for your experience and help.

Gary, any glass supplier/cutter can supply and cut a mirror for you.

If I remember correctly...

There is a thin white plastic strip that goes around the glass. A spring holds the glass and white plastic against the housing of the mirror. If you push gently on the glass it will move into the mirror housing a little. You can then push the glass to the side a little, rotate it a little, and get it to come out of the mirror housing.

The white plastic strip on my mirror is starting to degrade, and will eventually let the glass fall out. Any idea of a source for a replacement?

The spot in the mirror might be from where the spring pushes on the glass.

I've never been able to get a "flag" mirror apart. "Trap" mirrors are easy to dismantle by pushing on the glass. Not sure where to get a new white trapezoid gasket, I had a plastic one in my parts stash that's in my no longer used "trap" mirror.

BMW was selling the Trap rings and I know Coupeking had them. The trim on the Flag is black I think, definitely cant push in like a Trap mirror.
