On all my cars I always add some of this retro reflective material. Not a big deal, and certainly not period correct, but it gives me a little comfort at night when I get out of the car in my Urban environment. The E9 has a nice recessed spot to stick it on. I cut the stuff to fit by applying masking tape first, outlining the shape with a pencil, then transferring it to the reflective sticker.
