Just got new door stays for the E9 ... they came in the manufactures packets.....

The part number is Meyle 014 072 0034 - if you buy them NOT from a bmw parts company you will get them 1/2 price ....

They look different than the latest BMW E9 part seen here:

Do they work?

Those are the Mercedes door brakes, the size of the pin is slightly different to mount at the A pillar And you can use an M4 bolt.

Hi - it is a replacement for one of these..

i think there are 2 types.....

Somewhere, there is a post on the Mercedes brackets and the angle /extent of opening at both stops. Slightly different from OEM but I found them to be easy to install and just about perfect. You can thin the pin to fit or use the original and get a nylon sleeve ( Lowe's had one for under a dollar) place inside the MB stop to take up the room. Was a few years ago but the actual MB ones were not expensive.

My spleen says that Mercedes Benz need no door stops because the butler opens the doors, not the passengers...

My passenger door brake just broke with a loud noise like a spring broke. I looked in the stuff the previous owner sent to me from Hawaii and found 2 of the brakes. One was completely painted dark metallic blue and the other is golden bare metal. I remember replacing the door brake on the 2002 and they didn't look like these.
A REAL OEM search found the door brakes for CS are indeed different than the 2002 brakes. Part # 51 21 1 819 364 was superseded with # 51 21 0 301 600.
I have not pulled the door apart to make the repair. Here's a pic of mine with the correct rivet that matches Arde's 2016 post and the pic I found on Google.
What other door brakes fit our CS ?

I just posted this info on a 2016 thread about door brakes.

2002 and e9 look similar but are different lengths. The MB one is the best solution, your pic is the newer replacement.

Therefore not only chivalry is dead but reverse chivalry kills.
Chivalry – now that interesting, I wonder if chivalry will be consigned to the history books due to how the wokey world is going?

Would it be right to give service to others when they can do it themselves – I guess doing something for others is good in my world.

But the flip side is they may take offence that you do do something for them, as they may feel that you may think they are not capable of doing it for them self’s….and take offence…… the would is going mad! – sorry gone mad!

So the moral of the story – I will have to now fire my butler……….but keep my wife!

OH - the car is going to be sprayed today! cant wait to see....

Bought the MB (Meyle) door stay (16 euro's ) and made a sleeve from scratch aluminum tube. This weekend I'm going to instal the door stay.

Henry
Will you let us know how you got on fitting it please?
If it all goes well then I will also order the same part.
Thank you.

Installation of the new OEM door brake was quite easy. The previous owner gave me 2 of them. I put some Amsoil lithium grease on the rollers and there is no noise at all when opening or closing the door. The brake arm was closed when I installed it, so the door was only half open for aligning the OEM pin. Sticking a thin nail in the brake arm and door jam was the safest way to extend the arm to the fully open position.
The broken door brake was a similar original design I remember from replacing one in my 2002 door some 40 years ago. The pics show a little agave green paint so it must have been the original brake. The pics also show the clear plastic film I bought from W&N to use a vapor barrier. One side is very sticky and it adheres to all the metal in the door frame.

This weekend I've installed the MB/Meyle door stay. Removal and installation is easy, most difficult thing is to fill the gap between the pin and the new door stay attachment. I've used thin aluminum tape (aircraft high speed tape) to create a thin spacer. I didn't use the plastic housing of the new door stay, because there's not enough space, and lubricated the track with grease. The new door stay has two different open positions, very nice
