This is a new rubber guide insert for the door. Not sure what it's called exactly.
It has metal plates on either side and is a guide to align the door when it closes.
When installed on the door side it it NOT thick enough to fill the space.
You can see the gap in the photo. The reflections off my shiny paint make it a little confusing.
You can also see a photo of the original installed on the door and it fits properly.
Has anyone else encountered this?
Guess I'll make a spacer to go in there?

Gary, what is the depth of the rubber guide and plate compared to the stud from the lock? if the rubber + plate are thinner than that distance ... can you put a rubber or metal spacer inside of the door?

Do you have the plastic kernels that go on the door latch?

The part number is 51211809735 need 2

Two versions exist- thick and thin.
No idea why.
Interesting...............

So I determined today that there is a bushing that slips on the outside ( meaning away from interior) shaft.
It's the bushing that is too thick to allow the plate on the outside to fit snug on the rubber guide.
Here again I don't know why except for what Don said. Two thicknesses. So somehow I got the thin rubber guide and the thick bushing?
Easily ground some material off both ends of the bushing and we have a good fit.
One photo you see the bushing and the second photo you see the bushing proud of the rubber guide.
