I just completed installation of an original style door brake, drivers side. Installation seemed relatively straightforward, but the results... not so much.

The door swing seems pretty limited, something around 24".
Of course, for the past 10 years or so, the doors have been operating without any brake, so it may be in fact operating correctly and I'm just not used to finally having the door under some amount of control.

Can someone give me a quick measurement of their door opening with the door open all the way?

Thanks.

Are you sure you have an e9 brake? The 2002 and e3 ones are different lengths.
Good point. I don't remember where the door brake even came from. It's entirely possible that this was left over from one of the 2002's I previously owned.
It's shiny and new so I assumed....we all know how that goes.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Laldog, I measured my door on the driver's side, the opening is 1200mm. Gr Hans

Thank you Hans.
My door is not even close to that.
Must be the wrong door brake.

I will admit too that I had to do a decimal conversion to inches on Google. USA was supposed to convert to the metric system many years ago. I wish we spent more time with it. It seems so much easier than SAE system.

I found the MB ones were plug and play other than the pin slot had to be narrowed down by adding some nylon sleeve that I got at Lowes. No issues with door excursion at all.

Thanks
I recently ordered an MB unit
Looking forward to putting it in

One question: Should the backing plate still be used with MB stop?

I asked the same question when I did this. A) Kinda doesn't fit IIRC. B)I just looked at pictures and nobody used the plates. Sadly, I saved mine...for what IDK.

I found the "Media" heading for this forum late. IDK if you have seen it, but if not, use it as a reference.

WOW.

I can't tell you how much time I've spent looking for answers when a picture would suffice.

I can't believe I've never noticed this.

Thanks so much Bob.
