It will work, it is a pretty generic switch, it is the same for both doors, hood (bonnet), and trunk (boot). the part number is 61311362792 and it should run $3.11 (2p) from the the dealer (exchange rate is really going down the toilet (loo) :cry: ) .

The upside of the exchange rate is things are getting cheaper for me 
especially if I come over....
Only problem is is fitting a coupe in my luggage
On a more serious note Tilla is right, the switch is the same as a 2002 and they were the same on my now departed E28

door switch from a e30 works on a 2002, so it should work on yours. E30 switch beefier.
