Dreaded headlight fog

Hi All,

I am planning to purchase these from W&N as my inner headlights have started to fog, but I have 2 questions;

1) Has the manufacturer (Hella) rectified the issue regarding fogging (caused by glue vaporisation I believe). Will new ones still fog again?

- Is W&N the only supplier to buy the Hella E9 inner headlamps from? (I can’t seem to find this exact E9 Hella spec online anywhere else).

You can find Hellas from many suppliers over here. In the US the H4 lo/hi beam doesn’t fog as it gets used, where as our H1 hi beam does fog as it never gets used. This problem has existed for many year. Since you also use the H1 for lo beam (with or without city lights) I assume it doesn’t fog?

My outers are perfect, but inners have fogged progressively over past 5 years.

I almost never use my lights, either Lo beam or Hi beam, so fogging doesn’t seem to be usage related in my case.

Hi Chris, So basically even if I buy new ones they will also fog again eventually? I was hoping they might have improved the manufacturing process with new ones to eradicate this internal vaporising fogging issue.

I used those on my M5 headlights to defog the lenses.

I pull and clean my high beams periodically with isopropyl alcohol and big 6 in. cotton swabs from Amazon. Lasts about a year here in Florida, high humidity.

Last I checked the unique low beam Hella/BMW H1s are NLA so better get proficient at cleaning/renewing them. DQ posted a while back a method using micro glass beads. I found it to work to perfection.

About a month ago I bought some H1 high beams from Susquehanna Motor Sports. They also had a high output bulb for them.
