Drip rail trim piece installation

I'm curious if anyone has experience or knowledge regarding installation of the aluminum drip rail trim. I just purchased two new pieces to install and it appears that they merely get "twisted" on, reversing what you'd do to remove them. I've installed and removed these things at least 10 times over the years, but I've never installed brand new parts and assumed that they get damaged or tweaked after they're removed the first time.

It appears that the best practice is to start at the back (near the c-pillar) and work your way forward. It also appears that merely snapping them on is all that needs to happen, in other words, no crimping (which would obviously put a mark or blemish in their finish). Finally, it appears that the front end (which terminates at the front fender) is supplied an inch or so longer than necessary, and gets trimmed to fit.

Any advice, cautionary tales, encouragement (discouragement?), or pep talks before I install these things?

Drip rail installation-correct method

+1 with Chris--

Start at front and work toward back--never had heard of trimming any "excess" as they are designed to fit--at least those with which I've worked--just take your time as patience is the key to all fitment of trim parts on our coupes.

Another little step is to apply a very, very thin line or several thin line sections of dum dum at the raw seam of roof to lower body--it will help bond the drip rail to the car and prevent any "rattling" due the small space that may exist beneath the trim.
