I'm about to paint my 1974 CS and due to rust I replaced both doors, however the diver door has two holes. I'm curious on why there would be two, was that standard or can I cover the #1 hole?
Neither one of those holes look correct. There is a tab or key that matches up with the lock cylinder, so the lock cylinder won't spin in the door when you tighten it up from the 30mm nut on the reverse side or exert turning pressure locking or unlocking over the years.
