The top-of-the-line 3,3 Li had fog lights as standard equipment from factory. They used the rare and expensive Hella 139 lights. This was the factory type of foglights. I guess dealers also installed Bosch lights, but I do not think the factory ever did.

The Hella 139 is the same light used by Porsche for the 911 of the period, so that is why they are now crazy expensive.

Here are the Hella 139s as kkro mentioned on a 3.3 Li, but optionally available from the factory, with a BMW PN and very special mounting brackets, for other E3 models. Have not seen that driving lights were an option, only under-bumper fogs.

Checked the Orange book, special equipment on 3.3L and available on all 73 and later euro and 74 and later US. Appears to be Hella as noted earlier.

Housings are Bosch Lenses do not have a manufacturer's name on them although there are several groups of numbers. Close to the middle of the lenses is a large E1 in a circle

The light is the same but mounting is different. The Hella 139's for 911 Porsche will not fit for e9.
