Can anyone elaborate on this? I have briefly read an article about removing paint/debris with dry-ice....anyone have more information?

It seems promising, but I can't say more without further research.

I used it once, even posted some pics in a thread.

In short it works amazingly well for oil, grime, dirt etc. You could eat off the engine and front+rear suspension.

Will do some paint and some not. Did not take much of my front and rear suspension.

The rubber under the E9? Nope. The guy tried for hours but it would not come off.

The nice thing is that since it is not abrasive it will not damage hoses, plastic etc.

BUT, it may remove paint so you need to be a little careful around paint you want to keep.

First heard about this technique at Cavallino Classic several years ago; the results were pretty amazing! The uber-fanatical way to detail an engine bay without causing damage to electrical components...

It is -78 Celsius (very cold) so it hardens stuff that is usually hard to remove like tar, grease and oils. it does also remove paint and loose rust.
since it doesn't heat up the surface it can be used more safely than sand on bigger sheet metal parts without warping them.
much less messy than sand, the only thing left behind is the stuff you removed. also it is only CO2, so you don't breath in harmful dust.

there is also this thing which i saw a demo. http://www.spongejet.com/
it was pretty good

Yes, sounds like its a bit more safer for the car and environment...I believe you can rent a machine, but looks like lots of practice and more reading for me.

I will be keeping this option high on my list when the time comes.

Thanks all for their input thus far.

It is used alot for cleaning statues and intricate details on historic buildings. Haven't seen it used on a car but it makes sense.

IT´s been a popular method on cars for a few years now here in Germany. Initially pretty expensive (the equipment is quite an invest and the work is difficult and tedious - but the results are fantastic).
Prices have come down recently due to more competition. A full underside cleaning can now be had for 300-500€. A few years ago that would have been about 1000-1500€
