correction - that is not my coupe
Yes my coupe is apparently in issue #120 of the Bimmer Magazine (I have not seen it yet myself).
However, the link above is not the article to my car... that was from earlier this year, and the coupe is E9 on the outside and E39 on the inside and drivetrain built by MKS in Germany.
I am eager to see the article and photos taken of my coupe by Klaus Schnitzer, and the restoration and rejuvenation by the talented folks at VSR1.com including Mario Langsten.

I like what they did to the body at MKS. An evolution perhaps. But the Dashboard! Looks like it came out of my Subaru. Why delete one of the most beautiful dashboards of that era and keep the basic body?

October 2012 at the Bavarian Auto Show & Shine... that is where Klaus Schnitizer and I met, and after the event we went for a cruise... with Klaus hanging out the back of a 3 series wagon (ok ok a "Touring") and taking photos of me in the coupe.

No Duane, if I had any brains, I'd be in be in a different line of work!
btw, you look very serious in the photo. Were you afraid that Klaus would fall out of the car and you'd damage your airdam?

... actually you wouldn't believe how close he wanted me to drive behind the 3 series touring that Klaus was hanging out the back of for his photo.... we were doing around 40mph (only) to give a sense of speed in the background... but I was within 10feet from his bumper given the wide angle lens he uses to capture the 'action'..... So yes the expression on my face is one of being very very attentive given Route 1A isn't exactly a straight road...

One of the reasons I sold my Coupe to Duane was because he came across as a passionate car guy and someone who really "got" what the E9 is all about. He did a great job, along with Mario, restoring 4310155 and it's really fun to watch Duane using and enjoying a car that I still love.

Duane is very passionate coupe guy and doing an excellent job as a steward of 4310155. The coupe is always spotlessly clean and dutifully kept that way. The car is also is the favorite where ever it goes, from a Cars and Coffee to winning the class at the Lime Rock Historics Concours 2013 to the pages of Bimmer.

The positive highlights of my E9 coupe ownership, so far, are many and varied and in no particular order;
* It fulfilled a dream I had as a kid, I really did have a CSL poster on my bedroom wall and wanted to get one... one day... it inspired me to get my first sales job at 16 years old at Radio Shack (known as Tandy Electronics in Australia)
* I have met some truly great people through my association with the E9, starting with Nick as the original owner, then Mario Langsten and team at Vintage Sports & Restoration, and many more who have become lifetime friends
* My most enjoyable time in the coupe, without any hesitation, is when I was running it hard (as hard as I dare push) during the most recent SCDA (Sports Car Drivers Association) track day at Lime Rock in CT... I have never smiled so hard
* My daughter, who is now 5years old loves to come to the garage to help Daddy clean & tinker on the coupe... and she loves "going for a cruise with Daddy in the coupey"
If all this sounds weird - then I encourage you to buy a copy of Rob Siegel's book "Memoirs of a Hack Mechanic"...

Clear lenses from CoupeGuy (Dan)
Gary - I purchased my clear front lenses from Dan, the coupe-guy.
Modifications had to be made to the reflector given the clear Italian lens is a thinner profile than the original US spec orange monolith... and we painted the reflector silver and changed the bulbs.

but I saw some of the pic previews from Klaus. Can't
wait to get my hands on it.

and energy for e9's that he freely shares. I've seen him
at show's and he's also pretty quick to share resources or
lend a hand to help us prep for judging.

and the Roundel and frankly, I can never see enough e9's
in print or in person. I think I own nearly all the
Bimmers and Roundels where e9's are featured.
It's a great thing that we're all responsible
for raising the banner (and value) of e9's.

examples of why we love e9's.
