Interested to know if anyone has had a body e-coated recently and if so were the results OK. I had my CSL done in the UK recently and it is a bit of a disaster, the finish is like sandpaper with thick drips of coating all over it. The company tell me this is `normal` although the pictures in their gallery tell a different story.....

E-coating is done in car factories, I used to work in one. The finish there was smooth enough to be painted over.
Sandpaper definitely it should not be.
Drips I can't remember, but it would be clearly unacceptable for me if they are in sight. The only way to get rid of them is to sand them out, which just reduces the effect of the e-coat locally to zero.

Which company was it?

I plan to have my car e-coated when I complete the metal work. The examples I've seen at the facility I am using are nothing like your photos. I'd think that is not right, and unacceptable. Not sure how to correct it, though. The facility I am using tell me that the only thing they can't "remove" with their cleaning steps is their e-coat.
