Is there such a thing? I believe I saw one in the distance here in Newton Ma. I know Hartge did E21's but this had Alpina stripes (or maybe I just wanted it to).

Alpina themselves state they built the C1 and two versions of the B6:

What they do not admit there were also cars based on the fours, probably before Alpina reached the official status as car manufacturer. I remember an article in Germany's largest car magazine "auto motor und sport" I read as a boy. They had three E21, all with stripes: a red 320/4 with 125 hp, a dark blue 320/4 with 155 hp and a white 320i/4 with 160 hp. It was said in the article the white one was the fastest but felt disappointingly unspectacular. I'd love to post pictures but most of my old magazines are safely stored, so safely it would take a day to bring them to light again.

I am partial to the simple and anemic E21, it was my first BMW.
I was ready to shout out to the driver but it was a crowded street and he was quite a distance away. Hopefully I'll get another chance.
