What extra parts/considerations are required fefore making a swap to a 4sp ZF4HP22 box?

Any posts/links describing the swap would be greatly appreciated.

Just bought my 1st E9, stoked. Pictures to follow, will start a new project post also.

Too big

I think that it is far too big to fit in the E9.
A wonderful box that I have in the Jaguar 420G (Mk10), originally installed in the XJ40. 4th is overdrive.
Worth a try, or at least look into the measurements.
Don´t forget that there will be numerous modifications before it all works. The huge Jaguar requires a separate oil cooler for just the gearbox. Linkage to gear selector, kick down function, and many many more small issues to solve......

It's Been Done

I remember a really nice coupe restoration a couple of years back. They had installed a 4HP but did not talk about the installation. The car was for sale I think the new owner paid to have it converted to a 260/5, 5 speed. I feel certain you have to enlarge the tunnel at the firewall, it has a lock-up converter which is much fatter than a 3HP. There is no speedo drive so you'll have to install an electronic speedometer. I would bet North Hollywood Speedometer could convert a stock coupe speedo to electronic. You might talk to with Greg La Valle's Import Restoration in Greensboro NC, he's done a 318i with an auto swap into a 2002.

Thanks DougE, so it turns out I'm going to see what state the standard box is in. I collected the car last weekend and haven't so far had much time to check things out..

Thanks PMansson - maybe the swap would be a little too adventurous just now. I have posted some pictures of my car.
