I noticed recently that the chrome hood grills on my 72 Bavaria have a screen below them to catch small debris. It is missing on the E9. Also, and this is my opinion, the E3 grills are thinner and more finely finished. They appear, for lack of a better word, more refined.
If you are wondering about all the fuss over similar appearing grills, you are in the presence of some one who just spent 67 euros importing a dash board ashtray from Germany. Thank you TomHom. My old one, see photo below, is unacceptable. Embarrassng. In spite of the fact the new one might never be opened unless I decide to keep a spare key inside. But it has a wood finish to match the dash wood while my current one is black metal.
