Hi,
I am looking at the option of removing the original good condition euro seats and replacing them with Recaro's.
Would these fit?
Then I can keep them in this condition and get the comfort of a Recaro bucket seat.
They are E30 seats.
I saw that E24 seats will fit but was curious if these would fit also.
As always. that for the help.

Gordon,

the e30 seats are BMW, not recaro ... even the e30 sport seats. they are developed from the e21 / e24 sport seats which were made by recaro. the primary difference is that the seat bottom can be tilted and raised.

word of caution, the e30 seats have feet that bolt to the floor with thick sliders. the e9 have raised pedestals that the thin seat sliders mount to ... if you put the e30 sport seats in w/o modification, your head will be pressed into the ceiling. i think the e30 sport seats are some of the most comfortable seats in any of the older BMW, and probably much more comfortable that any of the cars made in the 90's / early 2000's. haven't sat in any of the newer cars. i have never looked to see if the e9 sliders could be mated to the e30 sports. i have a carcase of an e30 m3 seat in the attic, if i get a chance this weekend i will look to see if i think this is possible. part of the problem is the e30 seat slider has the front back control on the slider and the e9 has the lever on the side floor.

next question

thanks for checking on the seat have.
what seat would you suggest?
the E24 sport recaro?
i would like to minimize modifications.
If the E30 seats will fit it sounds like i will not be disatisfied with the comfort.

I like the sport seats in my new e30 cab but they are very narrow and no one would accuse me of being overweight! I wish they were a bit wider, love the adjustability though.

well Chris, you know i'm a bit wider than you (not as tall though) ... but having sat in the e21 recaros (in my '76 2002), i think the e30 sport seats are wider than the recaros. the only car i have had with more comfortable seats than the e30 m3 are the ones in my cayman s

The e21 is smallest then the e30 and finally the e24 which is the best.

Why not give Shawn a case of nice Pinot before I see you on Monday night?
I just know she would love it!

i have an e30 covt with a sport package and i can tell you the seats are fantastic for shorter distances or regular commutes but the long distance comfort is just "ok" this is coming from a 29 yr old... sometimes my back rejects the long rides..

you would have to do some cutting to get them to fit in a coupe. the e30 sport seats have feet and an adjustable height base. i have a frame of one in the attic, haven't looked at it in a few years. they are very comfortable seats though
