Has anyone used an e32 oil filter housing on an m30 block? Oil changes would be much easier and cleaner with the the 3.5 housing, though the casting is made differently.

Doug - I considered that option. However, IIRC, there was some interference between the side of the housing and the master brake cylinder (or to the pipes comings out of the MBC). It is also a decidedly non-stock appearing item in the engine bay.

You're Right

I have MS and it's increasingly difficult to maintain my car, I thought that might make it a bit easier to do oil changes. You're right about the look in the engine bay, the 3.5 housing is, much larger and more intrusive.
I'm using a top bolt filter housing now, I think I might replace the bolt with a 10mm stud and then use a nut on top to hold the housing in place. Thanks for the response Sven.

Re: the gasket..not sure they are interchangeable. I compared the one in my '74 with the one from an e32 and they were not identical. So I'm staying with with the sloppy bottom bolt canister for now....
