Im putting an '89 535i e34 motor in a '71 bavaria and have no information on what each color is on the e34 harness or the wires for the bavaria. I imagine it is the same as a coupe but does anybody have any links or pictures?
thankyou!

And who ever has done the swap, any pictures out there?

keep in mind that the wiring harnesses for the e34, e32, and e24 are not exactly the same even though the engines are the same[m30b35]
No o2 heater relay on one and different wiring from oil pan and alternator over to starter on another.
Only 9 wires on the e3 and e9 connect to the m30b35 engine harness.
You ae better off filleting the whole harness to keep it clean and get the wires right.

The E34 Bently manual has colors listed on the diagram. Most of the harness is not connected to the E9 chassis, however.

just because I have done a few of these doesn't mean that I carry the wiring plans in my wallet while I am traveling around the country.
If you can wait a day or two I will post some info.

ricky,

use the color guidelines from the Haynes manual for the bavaria.

Just so's you know ...
"guidelines" means you still have to do (some of) the figuring out on your own

so, no one has any info huh? hmmmm, alright.

Well, you could buy a manual for the car. All of them have wiring diagrams with colors listed. The cheapest was ~20$. You can get the Bentley manuals for pretty cheap, too. You will have to do some figuring out, though.

big black e3 to black/yellow e32 [starter]

little black e3 to little black e32 [tach]

brown/white = temp
use e3 sender and only ONE wire at e32 plug

blue to blue altenator

green to green white 15 amp fuse

green/white to green/yellow 30 amp

green/violet fuel pump 20 amp

brown/green oil pressure- check this it may turn to brown black on e32

When I get back home in a week I will check my notes for more.

Wow thankyou, This helps a bit. Can you clarify on the following when you check your notes? ThankyoU so Much!

green to green white 15 amp fuse

green/white to green/yellow 30 amp

green/violet fuel pump 20 amp

So, 1 more question... Since the c101 plug and harness have a pin out for the fuel pump and a fuel pump relay, can I just wire the "hot" of the fuel pump directly to pin 13? EDIT: I believe this is right.
