Hi team,
Can anybody let me have some photos of the centre console of a Manual E9 with aircon and radio. I have lost (dont ask) the photos I took when I removed it from the donor car.
I am about to install the evaporater and although it looks simple there seems to be a gap at the bottom when the front panel is fitted.
my email is

Many thanks

I hope this helps

thanks for the photos, getting there now but does anyone have a photo of the lower part of the front grille on a manual e9?
Seem to have a problem fitting the blower switch without it getting the way of the radio?

I think the switch needs to be turned sideways so it doesn't interfere.

Yes. In fact, in the bottommost photo that Stan posted, you can see the switch body through the grille vents. Stan's is oriented toward the left side of the car.

I am also very impressed that the silkscreened lettering around Stan's A/C controls is still in place. Mine has long since been worn off and painted over.

More like these please?

I'm in the process of putting an A/C into my '72 CSi as well as a new radio. I've got all the evaporator parts and a front plate for the consol. While messing around with it last night, I can't believe that both the radio and the evaporator plus fans will all fit in there!!! In the pictures above, it almost looks like the radio is in at some sort of angle. Stan, is your radio DIN standard? (I think they all are now).

What are the radio dimensions? Mine is about 7"X7" (DIN standard supposidly). I bought this one, looks stunning and totally factory, I hope it fits!

Any photos of disassembling/re-assembling the consol?

It is a very tight fit. The wires at the back of the radio need to be carefully manuvered into place. I had to file down some of the metal bracket that sits atop the transmission tunnel for the radio to angle down correctly.

Try this link: http://www.vranedom.com/heaterbox/heaterbox.html

He rebuilt his, showed the process, as well as the reinstall.

I guess the most important tip for me was to make sure all the clips that hold the console are in place, aligned with a scratch awl, to make sure the panels stay in place. The Main upper( heater console) is bolted. Hidden by the glove box and under steering cover. This sets the whole thing.

You'll need to take your window switches out, there are screws down there.

On the radio- yes, it's a tight fit with all the wires. I have an Alpine head and it's tight. Especially if you're running multiple speakers or amps with wires. I leave the left console side off until everything is set and ty-wrapped up.

I'd really recommend checking your heater core as it's hidden by the evap. I have a new one in the box that I didn't need. And of course checking the a/c blower.
