i wanted to understand how the clock Works, this is the mechanical versión as found in older cars, as every two minutes you can hear an odd "clack" noise, so i checked it while connected to the batt,

previously cleaned contacts and a tiny drop of oil in the shafts

to open first remove sealed nut:

inside views:

here is the lever that adjusts the clock to set it faster or slower

see how it works

It's kinda mesmerizing watching it whirl away, isn't it?

It's a marvelous piece of engineering...y'all can keep the quartz-electronic ones; I'll stick with the tick, tick, tick, tick...clunk..tick, tick, tick...

Good stuff, thanks for the pictures videos. These Kienzles are a little bit different than what we see on the 2002Tii.

My mechanical clock still chugs along and loses 2 minutes a week, an enjoyable ritual is on Sat am I turn it forward to the correct time for the weekend's crusing, among other pre-flight rituals.
