Ah yes. forgot about this. It has been > 6 months since i did this but here's what I recall...
The replacement rubber is a simple strip with a "lipped" profile top and bottom. It lacks the complex tabs of the original (see original pics in top post) but instead uses a lower lip that wraps under the chrome and centers the rubber to it. It is a very adequate solution.
You must trim about 1" from the new pieces, cut at an angle to match the front of the chrome piece.
Then you must glue the rubber to the chrome. Based on
@HB Chris 's love affair with the Wurth contact cement, I used that and it worked fine, but 3m weatherstrip adhesive or one of many other glues would work just as well I suspect. There's no secret here. Plenty of non-visible surface area to glue to.
Once glued on, it looks very nice, seals well to the vent window, yet doesn't interfere with the vent window operation. One would be very hard pressed to tell the difference form the original. Overall, 4.5 stars and glad to have a supplier.
I've got a photo below where I hold the new one up against the installed original. Ignore my OSHA-approved footwear.
