The 100 E9-DRIVEN grill badges are now all sold! - SEPT 26, 2007 - 12:45pmEST

If you think you ordered one but have not received positive confirmation from me please PM or email me. Also, personally purchased 8 of them but I only have specific plans for 4 of them. I wanted a "satefy" stock in case I didn't count correctly or a deserving soul with a good reason / cause didn't get one ordered in time. As such, I could be persuaded to part with a few more of them.

The vendor has shipped and I have a tracking number. The box is 35 lbs! A conservative calculation will bring our badges in at 5 oz; I think this is a good sign. I will post a message and send out email to everyone as soon as I have them; my goal is to ship within <48 hours (I want to ensure mounting and packaging is OK)

Our badges are (75mm / 2.95" diameter) and they should look like:

These are to be copper alloy stamped base, chrome plated and polished, and cloisonne enamel. 8)
For those who ordered, bulk delivery is expected in early October and I will ship them out promptly to those who have ordered and paid! The badge company is supposed to ship them with a suitable mounting kit (screws and fender washers).

The price is $25 for US continental delivery and $28 for all other locations. To order either:
1. Send payment via paypal (I will determine number of badges by amount of transfer) to:
jhjacobs @ ix.netcom.com (NOTE REMOVE SPACES AROUND "@")
2. Send me an email with your shipping address and the number of badges you want and I will send you an address for sending a check.

This is/was NOT a FOR PROFIT exercise! This is to show appreciation for the E9 coupes and homage to the all knowing board! I have personally paid for the bulk order and I really appreciate how promptly everyone has paid or posted checks. While not all checks are in, I am confident this project will have a small surplus. I have been posting my financial records and updating periodically. I will continue to do so until the effort is complete all revenues / expenses are accounted for.

If you have ordered and not received confirmation from me please let me know. I have tried to be careful in processing all orders, special shipping requests, quantities, changes, and such. However, I am not a professional badge maker - I'm just another coupe owner so I can make mistakes.

We are E9-DRIVEN!

Account Statement:

Badge Orders 60+15+25= 100 $(2,085.00)
Paid Orders 98 $2,368.11
Receivable Orders 2 $53.00
Total Commited 100 $2,421.11

Expenses Other $34.49
Expenses Evelopes $47.62
Expenses Postage $204.45
Total Expenses $286.56

BALANCE (CASH) $(3.45)
BAL w/AcctsReceivable $49.55

Since I have not been able to locate Marc and I have another request and am going to re-sell the 100th badge. We currently have a $3.45 shortfall and after the last badge goes we'll be just below $50. If Marc does surface I will ship him one of my "extra" badges "on the house/board."

Please do not post orders to this thread, just go ahead and place them. You cam PM me if you want on them.

Comments on the thread are welcome.

I just want to say "Thank you" for your sterling effort to drive this project forwards. Also to all of you with an artistic bent for the design contibutions!
I hope I can say that on behalf of all the members on this board!
Cheers
Malc
PS - My order is in!

So you have a list of names who have paid, and a list of aliases who have committed, and they don't entirely match, right?

I guess your note is saying, indirectly, that, IF YOU WANT A BADGE, THE ONLT COMMITTMENT THAT MATTERS IS PAYING FOR IT..

right?

S

OK, now all 75 are spoken and generally all paid for. If your life just will not be complete without a badge, you feel deserve one because ..., or you would like to trade an actual coupe for a badge (just hoping), there are a few possibilities:

1. I am still expecting a handful of payments which may not actually happen; in this case I will make the reserved badge available only after trying to work things out with the person ordering. I WOULD NOT COUNT ON THIS!

2. Someone may cancel an order. I WOULD NOT COUNT ON THIS!

3. I personally purchased 8 badges (to be safe). I have specific uses for 4 of them and the other 4 I only have general plans and I could be pursueded to part with them after I have met order obligations (including my errors).

If you want to try one of these options send me a PM.

What if we start a list for the next 25 minimum run? Once you get around, say, 30 orders, you can order it up again.

OK OK OK!!! I caught the vendor in the nick of time. They just finished the die and were getting ready to stamp. I got an order for 25 more in just under the wire!

This is the LAST time I will bump the order!

The WHO? This has been totally crazy.

No prototype yet; they just made the stamp die. If I get a prototype I'll post high res photos. The owner of QualityLapelPins, Gary, seems very confident that we'll be pleased. I hope certainly hope so!

I couldn't possibly!! We'll, maybe just 25 more!

All I can say is that I expect to see E9-DRIVEN badges on every corner. It is quite possible that we will sell more of these badges than there are coupes on the road! - sorry, I didn't want to start that thread again since we all know that there are somewhere between 2 and 40,000 out there!

Next we will be seeing these badges on eBay for $150 each..

They are works of art, elegant and classy. Great job in group think control, design, and project management.

Stan

Ebay for $150? Why else to you think I took this task on? I figure that if I sold about 100 at $150 each I could buy another coupe.... then again, if I could sell 300 or so I could ....

I really think these badges will be pretty special and highly collectible. I am planning to make a desk clock for my office using a spare coupe clock, a badge, and the same veneer I used to restore my dash. I'm still working out the details - I would love to find an old gauge hood to surround the ensemble. Did someone call this hood a binnacle? - guess I need a compass too, AHOY Matey's!

It will be hard to say which will be more rare: Unused E9-DRIVEN badges or Spare (and working) E9 Clocks. I've got one spare badge and one spare clock for myself - everyone else is on their own. :D I haven't measured the clock but I guess they will be pretty similar in size for a nice balanced look. Before the badge idea I had planned to use spare "3.0cs" trunk letters.

When I get around to this project I'll post some pictures. I suspect it will be in the winter months when my coupe is inside hiding from salt and snow.
