Hi,

apologies if that question has been asked here before - I couldn't find it through the search function

Are the front door armrests of the e9 and the e3 interchangeable, meaning are they the same part and can they be used on either car?

Thanks!

i do not think so
but you might be able to check if you use the parts list on the bmw classic shop online, there you will see part numbers

regards

The part numbers are different - I am still wondering though how physically different they really are, dimensions, attachment points etc.
After all, they seem to use the same cap.
But maybe that is where their similarities end? :-?

Believe they are different as the E9 door is longer than the front door of the E3, hence the different part numbers.

Pretty sure the front armrests are the same for both the coupes and the sedans. Realoem confirmed that they have the same part numbers for the e9 and e3 cars (51411815283 and 51411815284 - l/r black). Also another good indicator is the chromed armrests underlaying bits which are fitted to many e3 sedans (they also fit the e9's).

I have both and they look identical in length and design. I have two extra passenger door ones in good shape actually. One blue, one black. Both came from an e3 if you want to tempt fate. :)

Thanks a lot everyone for their knowledgable feedback - much appreciated!

I can now confidently go ahead and acquire a set of brown e3 armrests to fit into my coupe (currently black ones mounted which don't go well together with the brown leather interior) :D

I'll take your black ones if they're in good condition?

;)
