Received new center grill piece for a '73 3.0CS. It is silver as is the marque at the top of this page. Most I see have the vertical strips painted flat black. Which is period correct? Thanks!

Silver. The real black ones were annodized aluminum and came on CSL's. Those of us who like that look who didn't plunk down big bucks for the real deal (if you can find one) 5-slat (not 4) painted them black. I disasssembled mine and painted each vertical piece, then carefully reassembled to prevent nicking them which easilly happens.

What kind of paint

Steve, I think I'm going to paint mine black like those here. What type of paint did you use?

Thanks

I have a very similar front grill shot to stans and would have guessed that mine was black as well but I stand corrected. It will be soon though. Thanks for the response.

Same paint for side grills and hood vents?

Is this also the correct paint for the side grills and hood vents?

Silver vs Black

Call me traditional, but I prefer the silver for the grille slats, and black for the hood & side vents - just like they come from the factory.
