E9 GURUS: Name this part, auto to manual swap question

Hi,

Who can name this part? It was located on the mounting boss of where the clutch master cylinder would be on a manual transmission car. It had a gray/red wire on one end and a brown/black wire on the other.

Upon waiting for parts I decided to remove the starter interrupt relay per Carls instructions.

1) I followed the black wire from the ignition switch to a clear connector, other side of connector went to a relay. Disconnected wire from relay and clear connector. Removed wire.

2) Disconnected heavy red wire and black wire from relay.

Traced red wire back to fuse block, disconnected from fuse block. Removed wire.

Traced black wire to clear connector under fuse block. Disconnected and removed.

3) Disconnected brown/black wire from relay, this wire went to the connector on the auto trans harness. Removed harness.

4) Connected black wire from ignition switch to the other black wire under fuse block.

Is this correct? This bypasses the "start in Drive/Reverse" lock out correct?

Mystery part

From memory, I suggest this part I the picture may be involved with the aircon. I have an identical part that came from an aircon system that I stripped from a car that I parted out some time ago.
 
Not sure you want to hear this but DQ's pictures sport cleaner fingers.
 
That's the wiring for your auto tranny... Bracket and the 12 ohm resister inside.
Remember all those blue wires?

The hint is that tranny wires are banded not striped.

What ever it is. It's gone! The wiring I described above is correct. Just make sure the "cranking power wire" for starter goes to terminal 50.
