Does anyone have one complete. I miss being able to see and would like to install one.

Which type do you have? Flag or trapezoid. Judging by your pic, it ‘looks’ like the flag typ.
1st pic is Flag. Has black plastic around mirror
2/3 pic is trap. Has white plastic around mirror

yes, same as 2002

Just a warning...without the convex mirror in the right side mirror, they are not very useful and I don't think any are available with the convex mirror.

I have convex mirrors (actually aspheric mirrors) on both sides of my e39 and love them. Overall visibility is so much better.

My first couple of cars did not have right outside mirrors. When I learned to drive, I would constantly scan my windshield rear view mirror to keep track of vehicles approaching from behind at higher rates of speed. Lane change procedure was windshield rear view mirror check (to update prior scans), look over right shoulder (again to update mental picture from rearview mirror scans), signal, go. If you happen to have a right outside mirror, this is checked after the rear view mirror check. The procedure of checking the rear view mirror, checking the flat outside mirror and looking over the right shoulder are all to update the mental picture I maintain of cars approaching from behind.

Looking over the right shoulder is the key to living with a flat right side mirror, and the only way to check if you don't have one (which at present, my coupe does not).

QUESTION: The 1974 E9 I just purchased has a motorized driver's side rear view mirror and a mis-matched (trap style) passenger side rear view mirror. Is this "correct"?

I had assumed the motorized mirror was added, but now have seen another 1974 E9 on BAT with the same motorized mirror with NO passenger mirror??

Anyone know what is correct?? Thanks

'74s, somewhat common to find motorized DRIVERS (LEFT) mirror only. RIGHT SIDE motorized mirrors, w/the changeover switch, etc. are very hard to find now. Especially the wiring.

Right side mirror ($$$): https://www.ebay.com/itm/265930162326?hash=item3deaac4096:g:qtwAAOSwSXtjRKIY&amdata=enc:AQAHAAABMAHhgSB+TMbpGuIvSZsYnLx51oXWyu+B7a2/mp6a1EEE84CyWjrB7i4KyT5SAzZgngf2WuFdc3d9QI1NRzwbkUzQ6G1SagoBOrqy7GFziQe0wK2XBpgudZGsX4gXEM+8nJNsvkKh4d2iWBhboFz/L9jffJLWdlojtQBCF+xFRAPRX72Xbg4N/9dxOSqi1u6z0gmhpw8T4Xi6KBF7uSvD/C02s/rKYeJrpBr5L3PfjHy6Q7CKfHh6mgX3CKgzPR2lXfkp3P+8HuqygsuA4fMvtctjQVRzVNOF3qV0LdEUxqNWDJzEQwT6DMT2++jkXqkfVYLFs6HfTsCsUCAWUfSbohUzbcbXBnhyts576+M32eFTRPbIzhi9waD8Umr1R7nv5pnYTvMVCUnz0qxZRZ4Z9zc=|tkp:Bk9SR87bmMm8YQ&LH_ItemCondition=4|3

If not going to find a matching motorized mirror, best to just get two flags or two traps to match.

Wow ... and even if willing to buy that mirror, still need to wire it up and find the controller to install on the driver door .... I did see a photo of one car with two mirror remote controls installed! The two switches were identical (not like modern controllers with a switch to select which mirror to adjust).

My concern about swapping out the motorized mirror with a standard trap mirror is do the mounting holes match up!?! The motorize will likely have bigger and or more holes for the wiring ....

I have a pair somewhere, think I saw them a few days ago, and will PM if I find one or both. They're not pristine, could use a polish, and shipping though it must be paid, will not add to their value, only their cost.

However, post if you solve your missing-mirror problem before I do.

I guess this controller comes from E3.

It´s for the left mirror only. If you want to control the right mirror with the same device an additional 4line-switch needs to be installed!
Remark: sorry, the controller is no longer available, sold only some weeks ago.

So you have the right motorized mirror but you do not have the controller?

I would be interested in a right side motorizer mirror if there is also a controller.

If you find a right side power mirror you can gently push on the glass the set it even without power, I had to do this on my e12. If you find the controller with the left/right switch in it you would still need the four wire harness that goes to the passenger side, it isn’t currently in your coupe.

Sure, makes sense - but the solution is running 4 wires to the passenger side door ... not that difficult.

Finding the controller seems more difficult!!
